Communications Resources for Implementation Sites

As local sites begin to explore whether the THRIVE Framework for system change (Wolpert et al., 2019) could form the basis for their children and young people’s emotional health and wellbeing offer, it may be useful to share some communications about the framework with colleagues from across the system.

IntegRATE

IntegRATE (Elwyn et al., 2015) is a patient reported measure of integration in healthcare delivery, following a clinical encounter. Its four items consist of the following questions:

  • How often did you have to do or explain something because people did not share information with each other?
  • How often were you confused because people gave you conflicting information or advice?
  • How often did you feel uncomfortable because people did not get along with each other?
  • How often were you unclear whose job it was to deal with a specific question or concern?

CollaboRATE

CollaboRATE (Elwyn et al., 2013) measures young people’s level of shared decision making following a clinical encounter, from the perspective of young people themselves or their parents/ carers. Its three items consist of the following questions:

  • How much effort was made to help you understand your/ your child’s health issues?
  • How much effort was made to listen to the things that matter most to you about your/ your child’s
    health issues?
  • How much effort was made to include what matters most to you in choosing what to do
    next?

The 7 Minute Briefings provide a concise overview of the key principles of the THRIVE Framework for system change (Wolpert et al., 2019) and how to implement them based on a technique borrowed from the FBI. They are intended to provide learning in a manageable and memorable way and will help teams reflect on their practice and can be presented to staff on a regular basis.
